Episode 25: The Art of Self Mastery and Living Your True Potential
Do you ever wish you could simply be happy, without always feeling you’re lacking something and wanting more, from life? Does it seem like you keep repeating the same limiting patterns over and over? Perhaps you don’t even realise you’re doing this!
The way most of us live our lives is totally outmoded and unnecessary. There is a better way to live, a more conscious way of living where you get to choose how you wish to be from moment to moment. But this takes effort and most people don’t want to exert the effort it takes to take back control of their thoughts and their lives.
The sad truth is that most people would rather live a life of unhappiness rather than putting in the effort it takes to be happy.
I see this over and over with clients who come to me looking for help. They want to be “fixed” but they are not willing to put in the effort it takes to correct how they are BEING…
And that’s okay because it’s not about being perfect and everybody’s doing the best with where they are at, but if you want to change, then conscious effort is required.
The Desiderata says “be cheerful, strive to be happy.” It doesn’t just say be happy, it says STRIVE to be happy. And that’s where we get it wrong. We expect to be happy without having to strive or make any effort at all. And if that doesn’t work out, we remain unhappy.
Not the best model for living!
There is an alternative. There is a way to master yourself and your life, but it does take practice, patience and persistence to begin.
Once you change the old habits, patterns and ways of being then it becomes easy but it’s not easy at first and that’s why most people give up.
