The End Of Year Practice You Don’t Want to Miss

I can’t remember when exactly I started this practice but it’s definitely ten years or so. Each year it evolves and becomes more refined, more focused and more important. It’s the practice of a personal annual overview. (I have to get a more exciting name for it!)

But don’t be fooled by the boring title, this is one of THE most important and powerful practices I do each year, and yet it’s so simple. I’m going to share with you what’s involved and how to do it so you too can benefit from this incredible process.

First, you’re going to need a pen and paper. Avoid using the computer and instead use a pen and paper if you can.

Second, You’ll need to set aside a good 30 minutes without distraction.

Third, If you have a partner or friend to do this with, all the better, but doing it alone is also super powerful.

Finally, enjoy the process!

Ready to get started? I know you’re going to love it.

  1. Before you write anything, get out of your head and into your heart. You don’t want to be doing this from a head space. Sit for 5/10 minutes and breathe deeply, relax and let go of worries and invite your intuition to come forward. I also like to call on my Angels and spirit guides to be with me and to guide the process. When you feel ready you can begin to write.
  2. At the top of your first page write – 2017 Personal Achievements. Then begin to list all the achievements you can think of from the past year. It can be something big like getting a degree or something seemingly insignificant like taking time to exercise twice a week. List at least 30 items. Nothing is too small. The first time I did this, I found the first ten items easy enough, the second ten took some thought and the last ten was really difficult. BUT, looking back through the list a year later, the last ten were probably the most important, not the most significant, but the most important. So don’t stop after you’ve listed ten achievements, keep going till you get all 30 (or more).
  3. At the top of your second page write – 2018 Personal Achievements. Then write down all the things you’d like to achieve in the coming year. Think big with this one. It doesn’t have to be realistic, if it’s something you’d like to be, do or have, write it down. This one can be really fun. Use your imagination, let your pen flow and be sure not to edit as you go. If you start thinking “that’s unrealistic” or “I’ll never be able to achieve that” just observe these thoughts but don’t let them prevent you from writing out all your personal achievement desires. Again, write out at least 30 items if not more. I like to list achievements for different areas of my life such as career, family, health & wellbeing, financial and so on. Also list things which you’d like to achieve for your neighbourhood or a charity or for humanity. Be sure to touch on all these areas and any others that are important to you.
  4. Take your first list, read through it again, fold it up and hold it up to your heart. Close your eyes and give thanks for all the things on the list and for you. It’s not often we take time to give thanks for ourselves! Spend a few moments feeling gratitude for everything you’ve achieved.
  5. Take your second list, again, read through it and do the same process. Feel the gratitude for all the things you will achieve in the coming year as if they have already come to pass. Just like you felt gratitude for the past years achievements, feel the same gratitude for these achievements.
  6. Place your lists in an envelope someplace safe. At the end of the year open the list for 2018 and note all the things which have come to pass. Note all the wonderful unexpected achievements and note all the things which you may have aspired to a year ago that no longer seem relevant. Most of all note how far you have come and congratulate yourself for al that you have achieved.

Don’t underestimate the power of this practice. It is so significant, not only from the point of getting really clear about what you want, but also from an energy perspective. You begin to align with these things when you spend time thinking about and writing about what you want to achieve. It also inspires me to achieve more each year.

If you do this, it will be the best 30 minutes you will have spent all year!

This is a small part of a one day workshop I am hosting called Your Best Year Ever. It is an in person workshop for soulful goal setting, mastering manifesting and so much more. You get to spend the day with me so you can learn what I know works to set you up for your best year ever. Exciting stuff!

  • Thanks Sandra – I’ve done this now and told a family member who also decided to do it and told his friends about it also! This has made me so excited for the year ahead and all the possibilities that may come my way! Was actually feeling quite stuck and now This has given me a burst of energy! Sending gratitude your way! Elaine
